Being a leading childcare provider takes dedication and focus and to be awarded prestigious awards for being the best in our field makes us very proud.

Millie’s Mark

In Summer 2021, Smart Kids received national recognition in being awarded the prestigious ‘Millie’s Mark’,

‘Millie’s Mark’ is a Quality Mark for nurseries whereby employees working directly with children are trained in Paediatric First Aid. This has been awarded by National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) in association with Department for Education and Millie’s Trust.

Over the past few months we have been working hard to achieve this award, which acts as an indicator that we go above and beyond the minimum requirements to keep children safe and minimise risks and accidents.

Selnet Enterprise in Society

In 2013, Smart Kids were awarded “Winners” of the Small Social Enterprise of the Year Sponsored by SENW.

In 2009, based on a calculated risk we made the huge decision to take on finance in order to sustain and grow the business from a small charity into a social enterprise providing a facility of excellence for children of Fulwood and Preston. The nursery now provides places for 106 children, previously 30 and our main source of funds is from trading income.

Lancashire Quality Award

The Lancashire Quality Award is underpinned by the principle of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and national improvements.

This award celebrates the difference embedded in all our settings, from our philosophy, values and ethos, but allows us all to recognise that whilst our differences are to be celebrated, there is no right or wrong way, but there is always a way to develop and improve.

We gained this award in 2015 by completing a series of self-evaluation and reflective analysis right through our leadership, management and daily routines.

We had to follow 8 key points:

  • Relationships with children, parents and the wider community
  • Sharing food and celebrations
  • Leading a successful team
  • Opportunities and experiences
  • Making the most of the outdoors
  • Role of the adult
  • Meeting everyone’s needs
  • Management and business

Food Hygiene

Smart Kids has been awarded a five-star rating by the Food Standard Agency.
